Win adventure of a lifetime to Iceland in support of Hunger for Hope!
WINNIPEG June 7, 2010 - Corus Radio Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Airports Authority are on board once again with a contest that will provide much needed support for Hunger for Hope 'Because No Child Should Go to Bed Hungry'. The goal of Hunger for Hope is to end child hunger in Manitoba. Through your participation and contribution you can help feed our hungry children.
Starting June 7, Corus Radio Winnipeg wants to send you on the adventure of a lifetime, with a trip to Iceland. With each $25 contribution to Hunger for Hope at www.cjob.com , www.power97.com and www.groovefm.ca you are entered in a draw to win one of two trips for two to Iceland. You'll be flying with Iceland Express, operated by Astraeus Limited and staying for 3 nights at the Grand Hotel Reykjavik, in the centre of it all in Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s the summer vacation of a lifetime!
Winnipeg Harvest feeds over 1600 infants a month and spends $60,000 a year to purchase baby food and infant formula. Over 23,000 children receive food from Winnipeg Harvest each month, compared to 5,500 ten years ago.
“Hunger for Hope has given us hope that one day we can end child hunger. As we work for social change, we work with families with infants to provide them the much needed baby formula. We are here for all children to access hope,” says David Northcott, Executive Director of Winnipeg Harvest.
Garth Buchko, General Manager of Corus Radio Winnipeg says, “Hungry babies and infants in our city and province is not acceptable. It is every person’s responsibility to help Hunger for Hope and put an end to child hunger. Your contribution of $25 will not only feed many babies today, but will give you an opportunity to see one of the most beautiful places on earth... Iceland. Enter often and good luck!”
“Winnipeg Airports Authority is proud to be a partner in initiatives supporting Hunger for Hope,” says Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. “Together with the existing airport program, this exciting Iceland promotion will help meet the objective of making sure no child goes to bed hungry.”
Your contribution to the Hunger for Hope Iceland Adventure Contest will be used to purchase baby food and infant formula for Winnipeg Harvest to distribute to hungry kids. With your generous support, one day, we can eradicate child hunger in Manitoba. This contest is brought to you by CJOB 68 in support of Hunger for Hope.
About Hunger for Hope:
Corus Radio made a commitment to Winnipeg Harvest to raise $100,000 a year to help eradicate child hunger in Manitoba; however, in a little over 18 months, Hunger for Hope has raised almost $300,000. Winnipeg Harvest feeds 49,000 people a month in Manitoba; including over 1600 infants who receive emergency formula. Despite the generous food donations by individuals and businesses in Manitoba, there is never enough baby/infant formula to meet demand. As a result, Winnipeg Harvest has an annual cash operating cost of $60,000 designated strictly for the purchase of formula. The goal of “Hunger for Hope” is to cover this cost and establish an endowment fund to cover this cost for years to come.
